Just returned from the beautiful Bogus Lake in Grand Marais, Minnesota, as part of the roaming residency that is Cabin Time (II). Check out some of the pic here. Word is there are thousands of images and videos to sort through so keep your eyes peeled on that site. It was honestly one of the best trips I have ever had. So many incredible, talented and true people. Special thank you to Geoff and Ryan for putting it together, and a extra special thank you to Greg, who offered up his cabin freely to 18 stangers. I mean, it takes a lot to share your compost toilet with that many strange artists. 

The opening for the Cabin Time Show in June 22 at the Nice Gallery. So many amazing artists will be showing work so you definitely want to check that out. 

Now that I'm back, I am busy, working on the 100 dogs poster. Also working on a chalkboard for Soil Power Farms. I don't usually do chalkboard jobs, so I am excited to give it a try. 

Im also starting a piece for the ______ISM show, taking place in Santa Ana, CA. I'm choosing speciesism, so I am pretty excited to be creating something that really holds a big place in my heart. So many animals in concrete cages tonight. 

Other than that, I just work and play and enjoy the sun and say good bye to my midwest life that I have come so dearly to love. I will miss you guys. *sigh*

Once the show was up, I was ready to move on to projects that have fallen by the wayside. 

I finished The Crane Wives TShirt! It should be printed and released soon, but I will give you a little sneak peak.

What else do I have for you? I just finished the summer illustration for CraftSanity Magazine! This is the third in the embroidery series, where I created an illustration and include an embroidery pattern!

Also! I found a new studio in Phoenix! I will be joining two amazing artists in a shared space in The Lodge Studio on Grand Ave! I checked it out when I was there in April and loved it..but now it's official!

In other news, (man, it's been a while since I have shared, there's so much to talk about!) I am headed to the deep woods in Minnesota on Wednesday for Cabin Time II. 

I. am. excited. 

I'm decorating a moleskin and am going to fill the entire thing on the trip. Those drawings will then be displayed during the CT II opening along with the other 17 artists at the Nice Gallery. June 22!

Alright! Im heading to bed, I have a busy day of packing tomorrow! Have a brillaint night or day, depending on wherever you are in relation to the amazing star we call our sun.

Just finished hanging the show at St. Cecilia, the opening approaches!
I then swung over to taste test delicious vegan treats!! Verdict: amazing.

And then I was on my way to St. Cecelia! Another beautiful space to showcase work and I am so excited to put some new work up! I hung the show today and will be making signage and all that stuff tomorrow. Eee!! I'm excited!!

It's rather large so fitting it on a website is difficult. I am going to post the whole painting soon in my work section. 

What does anyone think about work divided by year on a website? I have a lot of work and am trying to figure out how to catergorize it.

Last Friday, Literary Life Bookstore held it's 4th annual Poetry Anthology Release. They invited me to do their cover for the book and I had a ton of fun doing it. It was unveiled on Friday so now I think it's safe to show it to you!

Yee! You can stop by the bookstore to get your very own book! 

I am on my way soon to take down my show in Saugatuck and then will be on my way to hang work at St. Cecelia Music Center. I have been busy busy making work for the show but am loving it. I'm making work that is a little different and, ahhhh it's so refreshing. 

I started a large piece last night and am really excited about it so I'll share more soon. For now, here is a sneak peak of a little painting I finished for Friday night. 

I am hoping you all in the area can make it on Friday. It will actually be the last show I have in Grand Rapids, as I am moving to Pheonix at the beginning of July! After that, I will have work at LaFontsee Gallery. But I feel like this is all content for a much larger post with lots of thank yous and such so I will save the bulk of it for another time.

So I have been busy busy making work for my upcoming show opening next Friday at St. Cecelia! Here is a peak of one of the new paintings I finished. I have been playing a bit with collage, something different for me but I am loving it. The process somehow feels new and I feel a bit rejuvenated. 

You should definitely come down to the opening if you're in GR. French music. New paintings. And a vegan menu to die for. Brownies. Cookies. Hummus. Fruit. And Cute Coconut Macaroons!!

The show is from 5:30 - 8:30. I hope you all can make it!!

In other news! My guy is graduating with his teaching degree this Saturday and I am so proud of him. We have big changes *ahem* moves on the way, I'll keep you posted!! Congrats Matty P!

Making for my upcoming show at St Cecelia's! It open next Friday!!!

I found creativity again. Seriously, I have felt trapped lately and stuck in a box. But I started cutting and glueing and I feel like a kid again. So much like a kid that I don't know if I spelled glueing right.

I've got some exciting things in the works! I'm sending out three pieces today for the upcoming 300 Show in Fullerton!

I also am busy making work for the show at the Terryberry Gallery. I'll keep you posted on those!

Also  - this is something I am STOKED about. I am have been accepted into the group of cabineers headed to Minnesota for Cabin Time II! I have a project in the works that is unlike anything I have done. I am so ready to experiment and get my mind on other projects. Not to mention, hang out with a group of amazing artists in the woods eating campfire food and swimming and hiking and sleeping under the stars. It's a much needed adventure. I'll keep you updated with the project that comes out of that. 

I'm going to rip some old books apart today to paint on for my upcoming show. I need a challenge. A different sort of something. I'll leave you with a quote from Robert Rauschenberg today - 

"I usually work in a direction until I know how to do it, then I stop. At the time that I am bored or understand — I use those words interchangeably — another appetite has formed.
